Puerto Escondido is a port and vacation town on Mexico’s Pacific coast in the state of Oaxaca. It’s known for
relaxing beaches, oceanfront seafood bars, restaurants, unspoiled reefs, and buzzing nightlife.
There are 3 main beaches: Zicatela Beach which is famous as a surf paradise for having the third-highest waves in the world after Hawaii and Australia. The neighboring La Punta Beach has smaller waves. The Carrizalillo Beach is set in a cove backed by steep cliffs. If you are lucky you can see dolphins, sea turtles and whales from December till March.
Regularly scheduled flights link Mexico City to Puerto Escondido Airport (PXM) and it is only a 45-minute flight to get there.
