If you would like a more local experience you can rent a house through AirbnB. We rented a house called “Hostal Calis Habana” the house has 7 rooms: 4 with king sized beds and 3 with 10 single beds. The house was clean and ready for us. Unfortunately, we didn’t like the location and area around the house, and there was no internet (which we weren’t informed about before we came.) We stopped for a beer on our way from the Flea market to Old Havana. We were walking past and got caught up by the live band playing so well. A great place for the best of Cuba’s music. This was one of our stops for lunch, the restaurant is located in a corner of Plaza Vieja, right in the heart of old Havana. We had to wait for the table but it was worth it. The atmosphere is lively, service was excellent, food was good and there was a good Cuban band playing. I love the old vinyl LPs that are used as placemats, the 50s atmosphere with all of the posters and memorabilia on the walls. Great place to stop for a family lunch. More about La Vitrola here.
